Shopping Hours

 Shops
South Africans are a nation of mallrats. Shopping centres are everywhere. Some are so huge they'll give you a good day's hike from one end to the other. In Johannesburg there's Eastgate and Cresta, and in Umhlanga, just outside Durban, there's the mammoth Gateway Shopping Centre, which offers more than 400 shops in 166 000 square metres – that's more than 40 acres.Popular shopping precincts are open seven days a week, from 9am to 6.00 Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 3.00pm on weekends. In smaller shopping centres the closing time can be as early as 1.00pm

Supermarkets in these centres may open until 10.00 pm.
